CAMBODGE GUIDE ULTIME

04
Kampot & Kep
You will love these small towns in the south.
The first will transport you to the colonial era with its typical buildings. You can stroll quietly as you wish along the river, and in the streets full of charm, small restaurants or typical cafes, and lively markets. A boat trip in the heart of the mangrove could also be a nice idea...
You can explore the Bokor mountain not far from there, its grandiose landscapes and strange architectures...
Kep not far from there, is a small seaside resort by the sea, and is very famous for its typical crab market and more generally seafood products... It is a calm and soothing stopover.
You can also discover the pepper plantations in the region and make some intriguing little escapades in the surroundings...
02
Battambang
This city may seem extinct at first, especially when you come from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, but as soon as you start to immerse yourself, the atmosphere will charm you...
Punctuated with small art galleries, quiet little streets and pretty pagodas on the banks of the river, you may be seduced... It is also an opportunity to taste excellent local dishes such as Amok or Lok Lak, the street food is really excellent and cheap!
The surroundings of the city are also magnificent, temples, typical countryside atmospheres, and the most famous attractions are the bamboo train and the bats that come out of the cave at nightfall!
And finally, do not leave Battambang without seeing a show by the Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus. What's more, it is an association that helps young people integrate into entertainment and the arts. Quite a program!
05
Koh Rong islands
You also go to Cambodia to relax. It is the essential step, which is more to end the stay in style! The beaches are magnificent, the turquoise blue waters, it is an idyllic postcard landscape.
The boat is the only means of transport and the typical fishing villages will delight you. You can go explore the islands or simply relax in the sun with a good cocktail at hand.
You will definitely have a hard time leaving after that...
03
Phnom Penh
It is the capital of Cambodia, but from my point of view, it is not a very attractive city.
However, you can discover a lot of Cambodian history there, especially through a visit to the former S21 prison (with the audio guide) and/or the Killing Fields, two sites that retrace the recent and tragic history of this country, the Khmer Rouge period.
The Royal Palace and the museum are also worth a visit if you like architecture and old stones...
If you feel like diving into the heart of the city, go see the central market, the opportunity to get into the heart of Cambodian city life.
In my opinion, it is not necessary to spend too much time in this city.
But if you have the opportunity, why not visit Silk Island (preferably by bike), a rural interlude a few kilometers away, and a boat trip, from the capital.

Mondulkiri & Ratanakiri
Perhaps the most authentic and adventurous stage... Encountering nature, the jungle and animals...
This is where you have to let go and let yourself be captivated by the wide open spaces, country life, deep tranquility...
This is where you will go to meet elephants, the jungle (and mosquitoes!), and breathtaking waterfalls.
You will not leave unscathed, but full of balm for the heart and head.
For wilderness adventures and wildlife viewing.
